Terms of Service
Last updated November 5, 2026
These terms cover how Connecticut Contractors works for homeowners and for the contractors who join. By sending a request or joining as a pro, you agree to them. Questions? Email leads@contractorsct.com.
What we do
Connecticut Contractors is a referral service. We connect Connecticut homeowners with independent local contractors. We don't do any contracting work ourselves, and we aren't a party to any agreement between a homeowner and a contractor.
For homeowners
- Sending a request is free, with no obligation to hire anyone.
- We share your request with one contractor who serves your trade and town, so they can contact you about the job.
- Any quote, contract, schedule and payment for the work is between you and the contractor. Pay the contractor directly, never us.
- Before work begins, ask for the contractor's Connecticut license or registration number and proof of insurance, and check it on the state's eLicense website.
- We don't guarantee any contractor's work, prices or availability. If you have a problem with a contractor, tell us. We use your feedback when deciding who we keep recommending.
For contractors: joining and your listing
- Joining is free. There's no sign-up fee, monthly fee or contract.
- The information you give us, including your license, insurance, photos and business details, must be accurate and yours to share. You let us show it on a public profile page.
- You're responsible for holding any license, registration and insurance your work requires in Connecticut, and for the quality of your work.
- We may decline an application, or pause or remove a listing, for things like false information, a lapsed license, repeated homeowner complaints or unpaid charges.
For contractors: leads
- A lead is a homeowner request we send you for a trade and town you serve. Each lead goes to one pro only. We don't send the same request to several contractors.
- We work with more than one pro in most trades and towns. If a homeowner picks you from your profile, that lead is yours. General requests rotate fairly among the pros who serve that trade and town.
- We send leads by text, email or both, as you choose. Contact homeowners promptly. Homeowners usually hire whoever reaches them first.
- We can't promise a set number of leads, or that any lead turns into a job.
For contractors: prices and billing
- You pay a flat price for each lead you receive. Current prices by trade are listed on our Join as a pro page. We confirm your price with you before you're charged, and we won't change it without your agreement.
- There's no card on file. When we have a lead for you, we send you the job details and price with a secure payment link from our payment processor, Stripe. Once you pay, we send you the homeowner's name and contact information, and Stripe emails you a receipt.
- You pay for the lead itself, whether or not you're hired for the job.
- If a lead isn't paid for within a reasonable time, usually about 30 minutes, we may offer it to another pro so the homeowner isn't left waiting.
Bad lead credits
If a lead has a wrong or disconnected phone number, is spam, or is outside the trades and towns you chose, email us within 7 days of receiving it. We'll check it and refund it.
Pausing or leaving
You can pause leads, change your trades and towns, or close your account anytime by emailing leads@contractorsct.com. When you leave, we take down your listing.
Limits of our responsibility
We provide the referral service as is. We aren't responsible for the work, conduct, pricing or payment between homeowners and contractors, or for any damage, injury or loss arising from that work. To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility to a contractor for any claim is limited to the lead charges that contractor paid us in the 3 months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service grows. We'll post the new version here with a new date. For contractors, we'll also email you about any change that affects your pricing or billing before it takes effect.
Connecticut law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut.
